Women's Shoes

Women's shoes are as varied as women themselves -- but choosing the right styles just got a lot easier. Below is all the information you'll need for getting a good fit, finding comfortable shoes, keeping in step with the latest styles and trends, and getting to know hottest brands and designers.

What's Hot in Women's Shoes

From the essentials that should be in every woman's closet, to the top trends and latest styles, this is where you'll find the hottest women's shoes and tips on how to wear them.

Cheap Shoes that Look Great

We've all had times where we needed or wanted cheap shoes, and by cheap, I mean affordable.

Whether money is tight, the shoes will not get a lot of wear, or we just need a quick pick-me-up and don't want to spend a lot for a fix; there are times when inexpensive shoes are definitely the ticket.

The Price of "Cheap Shoes"

Since "cheap" and "affordable" are relative terms, I decided to be more specific, and set out to find shoes sellers that had a decent selection of shoes for less than $30 U.S. I was surprised at the styles and brands I was able to find -- and I've listed several of them below. For shoes that cost even less, you can also check out my list of top places to find shoes under $20

If you're looking for stylish, affordable shoes, below are a few great places to check. If you're looking for the sale pages of some of the web's top shoe stores, you'll also want to check the current Shoes on Sale. - Cheap Brand Name and Designer Shoes

The best thing to happen to shoes since heels, is a virtual paradise for shoe-loving bargain hunters. I've seen Nine West evening shoes for less than $20, and loads of other brand names for just over $10. They even have designer shoes for up to 75% off. With styles for women, men and kids, and flat-rate shipping, this is site a definite must-see.
Buy Direct - Great Deals on Designer and Brand Name Shoes

Most bargain-hunting shoe lovers are already familiar with Designer Shoe Warehouse, and happily, they can now shop for the same type of deals online. If you're a rewards member, you can also check your account balance and details, and if you're not, you can sign up to become one -- which will help you save even more on brands like Stuart Weitzman, Franco Sarto, and Adidas.
Buy Direct - Cheap Shoes in Popular Styles is another one of my favorite places to browse for low priced shoes. They have great, trendy styles, and the prices are always right -- I've seen some styles as low as $9.00. Most of the shoes, boots and sandals they carry are from names you probably haven't heard before, but the styles are spot-on trendy, and the prices truly can't be beat. In fact, at the time this article was written, the most expensive footwear I found was a pair of over-the-knee boots for just under $80, and these boots were, by far, the most pricey on the site.
Buy Direct - Brand Name Shoes on the Cheap

Those in the know know to check out GothamCityOnline for great deals on designer and brand name shoes, boots and sandals -- in fact, even celebrities shop there. But beyond their discounts, there's two more good reasons to check out this footwear-peddling powerhouse. First, they're a great source for those hard to find gems you thought you'd never be able to track down. And secondly, they're a very giving group, having assisted in raising over 1.3 million dollars for charity since 1999.

Newport News - Fashionable and Affordable Women's Shoes

I love the Newport News catalog and web site. They not only have some of the best styles in women's clothing, but they have a fantastic selection of pretty and inexpensive shoes. Since they're not exclusively a shoe catalog, they do not have quite as large of an offering as other shoe sellers, but what they do have looks great and is quite affordable, with women's shoes ranging from 10 -30 dollars per pair, and fantastic sales throughout the year. Shopping is available through a print catalog, or the Newport News web site.

eBay - Cool Shoes at Cool Prices

I often find myself turning to eBay when I'm looking for affordable shoes, discontinued styles, or something that fits a description (ex. yellow hightops) instead of a brand or designer name. Using the same precautions you would with any eBay auction -- check the seller's feedback, shipping costs, etc. -- you can find some great looking new and used, inexpensive footwear on eBay. I once scored a pair of gently used Doc Martens for only six dollars!

Payless - Stylish and Affordable Shoes

Who hasn't shopped at Payless ShoeSource at some point or another? That's because Payless has an amazing knack for staying on top of shoe trends. A recent tour through their web site showed embellished and metallic sandals, print shoes and plenty of wedges in the women's department, plus an extensive selection of men's and children's shoes as well - with the vast majority of the shoes coming in at less than $20 per pair. You can shop at one of the thousands of Payless stores throughout the U.S and Canada, or shop online at the Payless web site.

Animal Print Shoes

From leopard and zebra print shoes to sandals with croc-embossing, animal prints are an easy way to add a bit of pop to any outfit, and they're a hot trend for 2011. In recent years, animal prints have made their way onto every style of footwear imaginable, so everyone can take part in the fun. Below are a few of my favorite styles for women.

Sam Edelman 'Bina' - Leopard Print Flats for Women

I can't think of too many things that would look cuter with a pair of jeans, leggings or capri pants than these leopard print ballerina flats from Sam Edelman. In addition to being multi-seasonal, the print on these women's shoes helps to solve that age-old dilemma or whether to wear black or brown accessories, since you can wear either. Also available in black, gray, and metallic gold, these shoes cost about $120.

Via Spiga 'Ida' - Animal Print Shoes for Women

While some women love for their animal print shoes to be over the top, others prefer a more subtle effect -- that's where shoes like these pretty animal print slingbacks come in. Also available in black and red, these open-toed shoes feature ultra-high 4.75" heels, platform soles, and posh patent uppers. If you can handle heels this high, these would be great for pairing with skirts or dresses of just about any shape or length.

Chinese Laundry 'Haylie' - Sexy Animal Print Heels

Definitely one of the most unique styles on the list, these women's booties feature distressed sheer leopard print fabric uppers that give them a cool, head-turning look. The 5" heels are bound to get a bit of attention as well, but at least they're offset by 1" platform soles. Also available in black and blush, these shoes would work as well with skinny jeans as they would with your favorite little black dress.

These boots offer an adorable and trendy way to stay warm and fashionable this fall and winter. With shafts that are 12.5" tall and 15" in circumference, these zebra-print boots have sheepskin uppers and pull-on styling. They're begging to have leggings or skinny jeans tucked into them, and they're also available in a purple and white zebra print.

 Nina 'Yaneli' - Women's Cheetah-Print Wedges

Just like animal print shoes, wedge shoes are hot this season, so you'd be hard-pressed to find a trendier pair of shoes than these open-toed booties from Nina. Offered in this cheetah print, and in sand suede, these unique and dynamic shoes feature covered 4" heels, and side zippers -- and, they'd be a natural match for your favorite jeans.

An excellent choice for fall and winter, these sexy booties would add a heaping helping of personality to jeans or pants, and their 4.5" heels are bound to turn a few heads. Also available in gray, these women's boots are priced at $150.

Butter 'Cass 30' - Animal Print Pumps with Kitten Heels

These pretty pumps have a lot of great things going for them including very wearable 1.5" kitten heels, stylish leopard print uppers, open toes, and adorable red vamp bows. Also available in a host of other colors, these women's shoes would be an excellent accessory for everything from dress pants to skirts and dresses, and they're ideal for fall.

French Sole "Sloop" - Cute Women's Flats

The incredibly popular "Sloop" flats from French Sole come in more colors and prints than I could possibly list, among them are leopard, zebra and giraffe suede, as well as a host of exotic print finishes. These cute and comfy flats are perfect for pairing with jeans, and are made in Italy.

Flat Dress Sandals

With all the hype about wedge sandals and platform shoes recently, it's easy to forget that for many of us, summer is about taking it easy -- and that we actually like spending time inflats. And, just because a shoe is low on heel, doesn't mean it can't be high on style.

While most of the flat dress sandals on the list wouldn't work for very formal occasions, they're definitely dressier than your standard, casual flip-flops. Check out the following selections in flat dress sandals for women, and you'll see what I mean.

Charles Jourdan 'Victoria' - Flat Dress Sandals with Rhinestones

If you think that flat sandals can't be as dynamic as heeled sandals, then you haven't seen these stunners from Charles Jourdan. Equipped with shimmering, rhinestone-studded toe posts and thin, delicate ankle straps, these women's sandals are lovely and attention-grabbing. Of course, they're not quite evening gown dressy, but they'll certainly bring a whole new level of excitement to any of your casual or slightly dressier outfits.

They look great in coral -- which also happens to be one of the season's hottest shoe colors -- but, naturally, I wish they came in other colors as well. At least orange shades work well with so many other warm-weather colors, it's difficult to complain. If you need help deciding what to wear with orange footwear, be sure to check out my tips on how to wear orange shoes.

ZiGiny 'Femme' - Beaded Bohemian Sandals

Multiple beaded ankle straps are what makes these flat, bohemian sandals stand out from the crowd, but what makes them even more unique is the fact that there are so many different kinds of beads.

Reasonably-priced at under $70 per pair, these sandals come in black glitter, gold glitter, and army green; have barely-there .25" heels; and back zippers. Customers at have given them very high marks, but you may want to read through the reviews before purchasing, as some women felt they weren't quite right for their shape and/or complexion
No rhinestones, bows, or floral embellishments means these sandals are easy to pair with any of your casual summer wear, but they're still nice enough that you wouldn't feel embarrassed to be seen in them -- and they're great for adding a nice, polished look to shorts or even casual skirts. Available in lots of great color combinations including seafoam and tan, multi-shaded gold, lavender and tan, and more, these skimpy thong sandals ring up at just under $150 per pair.
If you're the kind of girl who loves a well-placed flower, then you may want to have a look at these pretty flat sandals from Donald J Pliner. Eye-catching and feminine, these floral-embellished thongs have slight .5" heels, and they are ideal for pairing with shorts, capris, and jeans, as well as casual skirts or dresses.

Priced at $225 per pair, and available in narrow and medium widths, these summery sandals look great in fuchsia and black, but the gold and silver version is a real show-stealer.
Looking for flat sandals with a little bit -- okay, a lot -- of bling? Look no further, as these Kate Spade sandals feature lush, metallic leather uppers that are covered with shimmering rhinestones and pearly pearls. Available in the perfect shade of "old gold," it's not just the sparkle that makes these flat sandals stand out, it's also the design: simple thong sandals that actually are dressy enough for evening occasions -- or even as flat bridal sandals.

Dollhouse 'Hagrid' - Pretty Flat Sandals for Less

If you're looking for flat sandals that are pretty and different, but don't have a lot to spend on them, you may want to check out these ruffle-embellished sandals from Dollhouse.

Priced at only $25 per pair, these ankle strap thongs have fabric uppers and espadrille insoles, and they come in four shades that are perfect for summer: white, black, fuchsia, and yellow.
Sandals like these simple thongs from Luichiny are extremely versatile, because they're simple enough in style (and embellished with enough rhinestones) that they can be dressed up or down. No, they're definitely not for anything too fancy, but they're certainly a step up on flip-flops when paired with shorts, capris, or jeans, and they'd look great with casual maxi skirts and dresses.

Available in gold or silver, these shoes are also reasonably-priced, at just under $75 per pair.
Casual but in a very polished way, these L.A.M.B. ankle wrap sandals are sophisticated, chic, and unique. The contrasting suede uppers and wrap-around ankle straps give these sandals a very metropolitan feel, which is further enhanced by the simplicity of the design. They're not nearly as busy as a lot of dressier sandals, but they're still chic enough to bring a modern, urban vibe to everything from casual sundresses to shorts -- and they come in two great color combinations: elephant/black and natural/coral.

J. Renee 'Spruce' - Flat Ankle Cuff Sandals

Ankle cuff sandals, collar sandals, wide ankle strap sandals... whatever you want to call these types of sandals, they've been hot for the last several summers, and this particular model is one of the people's favorites. The lightly-gathered cuff gives these sandals a slightly dressy feel, but they're still lots of fun -- and they come in loads of great colors ranging from pink to orange. And of course, the row of tiny rhinestones that dot these sandals' t-straps don't hurt their case any either.

Killer Heels 2012

Christian Louboutin 'Asteroid'

Any self-respecting list of noteworthy heels is going to feature a minimum of one pair of shoes from the man who is at least partially responsible for this era's obsession with sky-high stilettos and ultra-thick platform soles: Christian Louboutin.

While the designer has an entire collection of extreme heels to choose from, I decided to have a little fun with this pick, and choose a pair that were killer in more ways than one.

These "Asteroid" suede and patent pumps from Christian Louboutin have deadly-looking spikes protruding from the tips of their toe boxes that give these shoes added potential as self-defense weapons, as well as being a cutting-edge addition to your wardrobe.

And if someone messes with you while you're wearing these heels -- which are more than 6 inches tall -- be sure to kick them hard enough that they feel the crystal embellishments that are embedded between the spikes.

Giuseppe Zanotti 'E20138'

Some of the sexiest shoes you'll ever see feature the name "Giuseppe Zanotti" on their label, and these ultra-hot slingbacks are no exception.

The heels on these killer pumps measure in at about 5.75 inches, but their height isn't the only striking thing about them -- they're also covered in animal print material, which is the perfect complement to their reptile-embossed leather uppers.

The white uppers paired with the brown and black heels is a dynamic combination that's timeless, as well as being easy to pair with just about anything in your closet. And naturally, the 1.25" platform soles will help make these peep toe shoes a little more wearable -- but all this versatile sex appeal doesn't come cheap; these killer heels ring up at $750.

Steve Madden 'Viktoree'

Yes, these are the kind of shoes that you'll look back on one day when super-thick platformsaren't trending, and think "how ridiculous." But for the moment, what a heaping helping of sexy fun these mary jane pumps are.

Also available in black, blush and purple suede, I simply had to feature the silver and gold floral metallic version of these shoes because, let's face it, if you're going to go over the top, might as well go really over the top.

Featuring covered stiletto heels that measure in at more than 5.5 inches, and platform soles that are a whopping 2 inches thick, these pumps would be adorable paired with skinny jeansand a shimmery tank, or with tights and a little black dress.

Sexy Sandals Image Gallery

Wedge Heel Sandals

Versatile, flattering and easier to walk in than other heels, it's easy to see why women love wedge sandals -- and fortunately, wedges are one of the hottest trends summer shoe trends for 2012, so there are loads of sexy styles to choose from.

And if you can spare about $400, it's difficult to imagine a sexier choice than these stunning sandals from Sigerson Morrison.

Equipped with 4-inch, lucite-backed wedge heels, these sandals feature striking, single strap bands in either turquoise or fuchsia; and delicate ankle straps that will help keep them in place, while adding an extra dash of sex appeal.

Rhinestone Sandals

While basic pumps can be sexy, nothing turns up the heat like a pair of rhinestone sandals. But it's not just as simple as tossing a handful or rhinestones onto any design -- the shoes themselves need to be sexy, or the whole look will just seem like a try-hard.

The sandals featured above serve as a good example of shoes that shimmer, shine, and grab attention, but they're not at all overdone.

Available with black or pewter uppers, these t-strap sandals feature 4.5" heels, 1" platform soles, dual ankle straps and t-straps, and of course, plenty of rhinestones.

A great match for your favorite little black dress, there's one thing to keep in mind when wearing heavily-embellished shoes: keep the rest of the outfit simple for maximum results.

Slingback Sandals

Whether they're skimpy and graceful or powerfully trendy, it's difficult to find sling-back sandals that aren't sexy. But, sometimes you don't want ultra-skimpy sandals that let it all hang out. Instead, you want a pair of shoes that take advantage of the warmer weather, and can transition nicely into and out of other cooler seasons. If that sounds like the shoes you're looking for, then you may want to consider a pair of open- or peep-toed slingback sandals.

Even if you can't take the 5" heels, or don't care for the 1.75" platform soles, these sexy sandals from Aldo are a great example of what to look for.

Available in ice, light pink, or orange -- all with contrasting covered heels -- these shoes are ideal for day or evening wear, and even though thick platform soles and ultra-high heels are among the hottest shoe trends for 2012, the uppers on these shoes are styled classically enough that would allow you to wear them for years to come.

T-Strap Sandals

Simple or ornate, there's a t-strap sandal for every occasion -- and something about a strap running up the foot is just flat-out sexy. And, these particular t-straps feature so many of 2012's top footwear trends that they could nearly serve as the definitive example of what to look for if you way to be trendy this summer.

With 4-inch, jute-covered wedge heels; .5" platform soles, and a simple design, these flirty sandals come in tan, brown, pink or lime. They'd be ideal for pairing with casual outfits like shorts, denim, or capris, and they'd also look great with casual, breezy skirts and dresses.

Ankle Strap Sandals

Whether you prefer dress or casual styles, ankle strap sandals are super-sexy and look great with mid-length and shorter skirts and dresses. And, the more revealing the sandals, the longer skirts you can get away with, because the extra skin showing helps to elongate the legs, thereby countering the "shortening" effect that ankle strap shoes can sometimes have.

Enough with the technical details, and on to the shoes.

With metal mesh-covered ankle straps, and metallic 4.5" heels, these sexy sandals from Boutique 9 show plenty of skin, making them ideal for wearing with skirts and dresses of nearly any length.

Available in black with silver, natural and black with gold, and purple and blue with gold accents, these back-zippered sandals are currently on sale for just under $100 per pair.

Toe Ring Sandals

You don't have to resort to sky-high heels to find a pair of sexy sandals this summer -- there are lots of flat sandals that are as sexy as their high-heeled counterparts, and this image gallery includes several of them. One of my favorites among the flats are these sexy toe ring sandals from Isola. But, there is one caveat with toe ring sandals: they will call so much attention to your feet that an perfect pedicure is essential. If your toes are tip-top, then this is a great style -- and one that looks much more expensive than its $135 price tag.

If you prefer heels over flats, don't worry, you can find high heeled toe ring sandals too, you just might have to look a little harder.

Slide Sandals

Because their uppers are made up of only vamp straps, slides generally fall into one of a few categories: casual, chunky, comfortable, and/or practical. This is because their backless design makes it difficult to keep them on -- especially if their heels are very high and thin.

Having said that, this gallery is dedicated to sexy sandals, and while chunky, casual, and comfortable shoes can certainly also be sexy, when I saw these stunning slides from Giuseppe Zanotti, I had no choice but to feature them as my example of sexy slide sandals.

While they're definitely not the most practical -- or easy to wear -- shoes I've ever featured, and their $550 price tag makes them our of most women's price range, they're a great example of slides that are sexy, versatile, and classic enough that you can wear them for years and years. Plus, the red uppers make them especially irresistible.

If the 5.25" heels, and/or the price tag, make these particular sandals a no-go for you, then, hopefully, you can at least use them as inspiration.

Ankle Wrap Sandals

Had I been writing about ankle wrap sandals a few years ago, I would have been referring to sandals that had string or fabric ties that could be wrapped around one's legs and tied at or above the ankles. But the last couple of years have changed all of that, and now we're wrapping our ankles in collars and cuffs too thick to really be called "straps" anymore. Whatever you choose to wrap your own ankles in, sandals like these give a super-sexy look to short skirts or dresses -- and they're one of they've been a popular look for several years now.

These particular pretties from Michael Kors two tone uppers, including combinations of ivory and black, silver and nude, and the less contrasting peanut suede and rose gold. The 4.5" heels are high, but compared to other styles in this gallery, not insanely so, and the same goes for the price tag, which, at $275 is steep, but not insane.

Stiletto Sandalet

When you think of sexy shoes, there's a good chance that it's a pair of stiletto sandals that spring to mind. And while they certainly aren't everyone's preference, for a lot of women, there is definitely something to be said for standing atop very thin, high heels.

If you're the type who appreciates a sexy pair of stiletto sandals, then you may want to check out these lookers from Steve Madden.

At first glance, the 5.5" heels may seem crazy -- in fact, to some of us they seem crazy even upon our second glance. But it is worth noting that the sky-high, ultra-skinny heels are offset by 1.5" platform soles -- another love or hate feature. But no matter what your personal feelings are on extreme heels like these, they're super-hot for 2012.

Available in teal, magenta, blush, and black, these sexy sandals feature open toes, flattering t-straps and ankle straps, and ring up at just under $160 per pair.

Espadrille Sandalet

While traditional espadrilles are attractive in their own right, adding heels, platforms and lots of colorful straps adds a whole new level of sex appeal. If you need proof that espadrilles can be sexy, look no further than these stunning sandals from Jimmy Choo.

With 4.5" jute-covered wedge heels, and substantial platform soles that measure in at 1.75 inches, it's the orange uppers that really set these sandals apart from the crowd. Of course, Choos aren't cheap -- priced at $550 per pair, they're not accessible to everyone. But if they're in your budget, they're a great way to turn heads.

Cork Heel Sandals

Some sandals with cork heels might not be sexy, but put a high cork heel on a sandal with dynamic uppers, and the "wow" factor is apparent. Take these cute wedges from Circa Joan and David. The only difficult part of deciding to include them in this sexy sandals image gallery was choosing which color combination I'd feature.

Available in pink and gray, orange and nude, and black and white, these sandals feature 4.5" cork wedge heels, 1.5" platform soles, and patent leather uppers. In addition to being too cute for words, these sandals are sexy in a casual, but very feminine way -- that's due in no small part to the oversized floral embellishments on their vamps.

Priced at just under $100 per pair, these shoes would look adorable with shorts, or with shorter, casual skirts and dresses.

Platform Sandals

Platform sandals are still as hot as ever, and the look is pure sex appeal. Especially when the platform sandals in question feature lots of skimpy straps, and shimmering rhinestone embellishments.

One of the more divisive footwear trends, if you're one of the women who love thick platform soles, then you definitely want to have a look at these dressy, sexy sandals from Guess by Marciano. With staggeringly-high 5" heels and substantial 1.25" platform soles, these sandals would be ideal with your favorite short cocktail dress, but could also be used to dress up longer skirts and dresses as well.

White Sandals

When it comes to fresh-looking footwear for summer, nothing's hotter than a pair of sexy white sandals.

Especially dynamic against dark skin, they're a good choice for lighter complexions as well, because they don't wash you out nearly as much as, say, black sandals, would.

These sexy white sandals from Kate Spade New York feature classic styling, delicate ankle straps, and 3.5" cork wedge heels. Ideal for pairing with skirts and dresses of nearly any shape or length, these chic sandals also come in a gorgeous sand ocelot print.

Woven Sandals

Woven sandals are often really casual, and sometimes even bulky -- in short, the word "woven" doesn't immediately conjure up an image that is also "sexy." But, the two can happily coexist in one pair of shoes. Don't believe me? Check out these fun and flirty sandals from Sam Edelman.

While they're not overdone in their weaving, they have just enough to be interesting; and their shapely, 4.5" raffia-wrapped wedge heels add a heaping helping of sex appeal.

Perfect for pairing with shorts, denim, or casual skirts and dresses, these sexy, casual sandals come in saddle or gold, and ring up at just under $150 per pair.

Patent Leather Sandals

Like the shiny go-go boots of the past, today's patent leather sandals are a super-sexy footwear choice -- and dramatic colors really optimize the look. A few years ago, you couldn't swing a designer handbag without hitting a pair of patent leather sandals. In 2012, they're not quite as omnipresent as they were, but there are still lots of glossy sandals to choose from.

One of my favorite styles this year, is this pair of classy, chic ankle strap sandals from Pour La Victoire. There is nothing over the top about them, and they're certainly not what I'd call trendy -- they're just sexy, classic sandals that would work well for day or evening wear, and will look great for years to come.

Offered in loads of colors, including several non-patent versions, these patent leather sandals feature wearable 3.75" heels, and leather soles, uppers and linings.

Chunky Heel Sandals

One of the hottest footwear trends for 2012, chunky heeled sandals may not be as timeless as stilettos, but chunky heels are fun and trendy, and they do have their advantages. For one thing, many women find them easier to walk in than skinny heels, and a more substantial heel typically allows women to wear slightly higher heels than they're used to -- especially when they're offset by platform soles.

As a big fan of chunky high heels, I was happy to have loads of sexy sandals to choose from this year. I opted to feature these lookers from Lumiani, due to the fact that they're trendy, but still versatile, thanks to their color-blocked uppers and simple, chic styling -- which has a definite retro vibe.

Available in four winning color combinations, these sandals ring up at just under $80 per pair.

Low Heel Sandals

For a hot look without a lot of pain, try low heeled sandals with dynamic features. Metallic shades and intricate or shimmering details add to the sex appeal.

Take, for example, these pretty, low-heeled thongs from Volatile. Available in silver, gold or bronze, these thong sandals feature rows of shimmering rhinestones on their single vamp straps, and ultra-wearable wedge heels that are only 1.75" high.

Flat Sandals

Think flat sandals can't be sexy? Think again. Skimpy straps, delicate features, and pretty embellishments can turn flats into hot numbers that will steal the show. These thong sandals from Steve Madden are a prime example of flat sandals that are as sexy as heels, but a lot easier to wear.

Ideal for dressing up shorts, capris or cropped pants, sandals like these can also bring a pretty, laid back vibe to skirts and dresses, including shorter styles as well as maxi skirts.

Offered in pewter, silver, or with multi-colored rhinestones, these sandals have slingback straps, and style to spare. And, they're decently-priced at just under $90 per pair.

Sexy Thong Sandals

Many think of thong sandals only when they're thinking casual, but a high- or low-heeled thong can be chic and sexy. This pair could go casual or slightly dressier, and they'd add a dash of chic style to anything you paired them with.

Available in a variety of prints and colors, these thongs feature studded uppers and .75" heels.

Spring Shoe Trends 2012

Wedge Heeled Shoes for Spring 2012

No surprise here, wedge heels are going to be hot again this spring and summer, and even though there are no limits when it comes to heel heights, there will be plenty of lower-heeled wedges to choose from as well.

If you do choose to go for some of those sky-high wedges, you may want to consider looking for styles that also have platform soles. Not only will they help to counter the height of the heels, but they're also a top footwear trend themselves.

Hot Shoe Trend for Spring: Chunky High Heels

The heels just keep getting higher, and while lovers of spiky stilettos will always have a lot of options, what's nice for spring 2012 is that there are loads of chunky high heels to choose from as well. Not only are chunky heels generally more comfortable than thin high heels, they also add a dose of casual fun to your warm weather wardrobe.

Thick Platform Soles May Not Sound Springy...

But for 2012, they are.

I remember, several years ago, when all of us fashion writers acted as if platform shoes were a returning trend. Since they haven't gone anywhere, it's difficult to continue calling them a "trend," and yet, it still seems as if they're worth mentioning. I think it's because of how thick soles really accentuate some of the heel trends that come and go. For example, for spring 2012, platform soles are the perfect complement to the ultra-high, chunky heels; and the wedge heels mentioned above.

A Textural Spring: Shoes with Cork, Rope, and Woven Accents

Here's another "trend" that's kind of not really a trend, in the sense that warm weather just tends to bring out footwear with rope, jute, woven, and other textural accents, because these types of accents look great with shorts and shorter skirts.

I will say, however, that some of these elements will be a bit more prevalent in 2012 than they are in other years.

For instance, I'm starting to see cork textures popping up everywhere -- on uppers, as well as on heels and soles. Again, this trend plays well with some of the others, like thick platforms and high wedge heels.

Shoe Color Trends for 2012

Yes, neutrals are back again, but this year, I actually have some good news for color lovers: after several seasons mostly void of footwear in vivid hues, in 2012, well have several great hues to choose from.

The color leading the trends for 2012, has to be orange -- especially shades of dark and burnt orange, but there will be a lot of citrusy oranges, and coral shades as well.

Aside from hot, hot oranges, we'll also be seeing a lot of cool blues, like turquoises and aqua shades; lime greens, and dark pinks.

Spring Shoes in Floral Prints

Can't choose a favorite color for your new spring shoes? Why not try them all, via a pair of pumps or sandals with floral print uppers?

They're all the rage, and there are loads of pretty floral accessories to pair them with.

While floral prints definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea, if you do like them, you're in luck, because they'll be lots to choose from, and they're always a nice touch, even when they're not necessarily trending.
